Underfloor heating works by pumping a controlled flow of warm water through plastic tubing embedded in the floor. Because the emitting area is large, sufficient warmth is provided even on a cold winter day with no need for supplementary heating, each room has its own circuit so it is a simple process to apply room-by-room temperature control.

Distribution of heat with radiator
Benefits of using Underfloor Heating.
Underfloor heating is simply more comfortable and saves energy, ask anyone who has had it installed. Traditional radiators create warmth by drawing cold air across our feet and convecting it towards the ceiling, leaving the floor space quite cool, and the ceiling holding a majority of the warmth, when the opposite is more comfortable.
Radiant heat which is produced with underfloor heating is a natural type of heat; in fact the sun heats us in the same way. The heat is concentrated where we need it, where we sit and stand, with the floor normally being 2 degrees higher than the ceiling, which is a natural feel, our feet being slightly warmer than our head.

Distribution of heat with radiant floors
- Running costs are significantly reduced, approximately 30% less than radiators, depending on application.
- When used with modern condensing boilers it will reduce running costs even further, this is due to a lower return flow temperature which will maximise the condensing feature and reduce fuel use substantially.
- Underfloor heating will give you an even distribution of heat unlike radiators which produce mainly convected heat.
- No hot pipework or radiators for children, the elderly or pets to burn themselves on, or bump or injure themselves on the sharp edges.
- Radiators are ugly objects that we seem to tolerate because we feel they are necessary.
- No radiators taking up valuable wall space, restricting the positioning of furnishings, requiring decorating, or removal to decorate behind, and clean.
- Cleaner environment, due to less air movement with radiated heat, so less airborne germs, pollen, dust, and dust mites.
- It is virtually maintenance free
- It is easy to control
- Suitable for all floor coverings, in tiled kitchens, laminate living areas, and carpeted bedrooms, in fact anywhere which suits your requirements
