BONDED AGGREGATE

Description

Woodroyd Bound Aggregate Surfacing is composed of specially formulated resin used to adhere natural aggregates to suitable substrates to produce a decorative and hard wearing surface dressing.

Substrate

The substrate must be of suitable construction for the proposed use. The Bound Aggregate Surfacing will impart no structural strength to the substrate. Concrete may require to be lightly abraded or shot blast cleaned to remove surface laitance. New concrete surfaces should have a fine wood float finish. New concrete must be surface dry before application.

Bituminous surfaces should be of a dense mixture and well consolidated to create a non-porous surface with no voids in the surface.

Existing bituminous surfaces must be of a sound construction.

New works to be carried out in accordance with "Specification for Highways Works December 1991 reprinted August 1993 with Amendments" as issued by the Department of Transport.

Binders should comply with BS3690 Part l or Part 3

Wearing Course

3mm or 6mm Dense Macadam Wearing Course to a minimum depth of 20mm (Series 1100 Clause 1105 BS4987 CL 7.7 or 7.6) or Fine Cold Asphalt Wearing Course laid to a minimum depth of 15mm (Series 1100 Clause 1104)

28 or 20mm N.S. Dense Macadam Base Course to a minimum depth of 70mm (Series 900 Clause 906 BS4987 CL6.4 or 6.5) or 60% 20mm Rolled Asphalt Base Course to BS594 Part 1 Clause 2 and 3 to a minimum depth of 60mm (Series 900 Clause 905 BS594 T2 CL2/4)

55% 10mm Aggregate Rolled Asphalt Wearing Course to BS594 Part 1 for wearing course design mixes with sub clauses 2,3 and 4 (Machine Laid) (Series 900 Clause 910 BS594 T3 CL3/4) or 30% 10mm Aggregate Rolled Asphalt Wearing Course to BS594 Part 1 for wearing course recipe mixes with sub clauses 2,3 and 4 (Hand Laid) (Series 900 Clause 910 BS594 T6 CL 6/3)
