BONDED AGGREGATE

Description

Woodroyd BONDED AGGREGATE Surface Dressing is composed of a specially formulated resin adhesive which is spread onto the sub-base at a thickness suitable to bond the chosen aggregate. Aggregate is then broadcast onto the surface. When the resin has cured the excess aggregate is removed.

Curing or Setting Times

Depends on temperature. At 20ºC cure will take place in about 2 hours whereas at 10ºC 4 hours will be required. The adhesive can be accelerated for faster cure in cold temperatures.

Thickness

Depends on the choice of aggregate. The finished thickness will be a little more than the maximum grain size.

Substrate

The system can be applied onto HRA, Macadam, Asphalt, Steel Wood and Concrete. Each type of surface may require appropriate preparation (and in some cases priming). If in doubt, please ask for detailed descriptions of suitable substrates.

Colour

Almost any aggregate can be chosen to achieve the desired appearance. Natural aggregates maintain their colour even in hard wear environments. The adhesive can be supplied in a colour similar to the aggregate for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Speed of Application

An application crew can install in excess of 500m² in a day. In normal conditions the surface will receive traffic after 2 to 4 hours of cure depending on temperature.

Maintenance

The surface will require minimal maintenance, however, as with any external surface, to maintain a fresh appearance it will benefit from pressure washing as required, depending on soil build up.

Durability

Depends on traffic, but most of the resin binders used are approved for use by the Department of Transport in the construction of high friction surfacing on highways, where a 5 year life is demanded. Most installations of decorative systems are in less demanding environments.
